Equipment

  • 1 Food Processor

Ingredients

Tahini

  • 1 cup Sesame Seeds
  • 3 to 4 tbsp Olive Oil

Hummus

  • 1 1/2 cup Shelled Frozen Edamame
  • 1/3 cup Tahini
  • 1 cup Cilantro
  • 1/3 cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 1/2 tsp Nature's Flavors Chili Pepper Extract (The link to purchase this extract can be found under 'Instructions')
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper

Instructions

Make Tahini

  • Toast the sesame seeds on medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Stir constantly until sesame seeds are lightly browned.
  • Once sesame seeds are lightly browned, remove from heat and let cool completely.
  • Transfer the cooled toasted sesame seeds to a food processor and process until a sand like mixture forms (approx. 1 to 2 minutes).
  • Add the olive oil and continue processing until the mixture reaches a pourable consistency. Be patient during this step. The longer you process the mixture, the smoother the Tahini will get and tastier the Hummus will be.

Make Hummus

  • Add boiling water to the frozen shelled edamame and set aside for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Add the boiled edamame along with all of the remaining ingredients into a food processor. Note: To purchase Nature's Flavors chili pepper extract, visit https://www.naturesflavors.com/natural-flavor-extracts/145944-chili-pepper-extract-kosher-vegan-gluten-free.html
  • Process all ingredients until the mixture reaches a smooth and creamy consistency. Give it a taste. If you prefer the hummus to be even more spicy, feel free to add an extra teaspoon of Nature's Flavors chili pepper extract and continue processing.
  • Enjoy the Edamame Hummus with pita and your favorite veggies!
